Where to start? The beach. Perfect white sand and a view to die for, looking out over the Gulf of Mexico.
The room. Near perfect. Big bed, big TV. Fully stocked kitchen. Pots pans dishes all there for use.
I have only one gripe. Water pressure. Showering under a near dribble of low pressure water was less than ideal. But we managed.
One other point to note and nothing to do with the hotel...cellphone coverage is non existent in the rooms or anywhere in this area. Patchy at best. Be warned. Thank you for reading.

Very Nice Stay... absolutely loved our time here

Very happy with the resort. Stayed in unit 240. It is a little on the older side but inside all updated and very nice. Staff was very nice at check in... love love the beach access, they have lounge chairs available on the beach, very quiet and relaxing for me and my husband. Would definitely come back again. Only downside was the door locking, couldn't lock the deadbolt from the outside and the door jam was not aligned leaving us a little uneasy about the security of the door. Kitchen was stocked with plenty of utensils and cooking items. Bed was pretty comfy. View and everything was gorgeous.

Seahorse Unit 232

Due to COVID, we were unable to visit Florida and to stay at the Seahorse and our usual unit, 232, in 2021. We have stayed here for several years and request the same unit for the following year. It’s unfortunate that a previous guest had such a negative experience since it’s not been our experience. The unit is comfortably and attractively furnished, the kitchen design is modern and with an eye towards functionality. We anticipate a return next year and looking forward to doing so.

Roaches, outdated, and loud

This the the third time staying at the Seahorse and not quite sure whether or not we will be back for our yearly tradition trip at this resort. We have previously stayed in rooms 235 and 246 and this year we decided to stay on the first floor in room 222. Room 246 was more updated, but the noseeums ate us alive. If you like outdated, dirty, tiny red bugs crawling all over the kitchen countertops, and sharing with roaches, then this is the room for you. On top of that, if you enjoy loud music playing all hours of the day and people with no manners, this is the resort for you. It's very sad how this resort has gone downhill over the years. In my opinion it is not the best resort to stay in Longboat Key if you're looking for a quiet and clean place to vacation. Seahorse and owners- you can do better than this.

We are sorry for your negative experience and hope you will give us another chance to deliver on an outstanding one. We take room cleanliness and pest control very seriously and are revisiting our efforts in light of your comments. We did have an issue with loud guests during the summer and are looking at our policies and procedures to address this. Our goal is to provide guests with a clean, quiet, and restful stay on the beach.

Change in everything

We have been staying at the Seahorse approximately every 2 months for a decade in different rooms. Everything was perfect until the pandemic... They seem to have a new management company. The rooms are not clean, the beds seem to be new and very uncomfortable. Random items such as lighting and switches are broken. The central a/c has been replaced which is great but there is no option to adjust any room temperature! Almost every time we go to the office there is a sign be right back (at beach) this in itself doesn't seem right! Before the pandemic it was a nice quiet beachfront location now it's always loaded with people who have no concern for others. It's very loud, many people staying in each room( 6 or 7) and partying all-night! If you enjoy this type of activity this is the place for you! They don't have a bar by the pool but you'd never know. Shame on you seahorse - Get it together!

We are sorry that you had a negative experience and hope you will give us another chance to deliver a better experience. We have had some challenges with employee turnover, but remain focused on providing clean, comfortable rooms and a responsive front office. Among other things, we have appointed a housekeeping supervisor to help drive improvements. We take your comments regarding noise issues seriously and are determined to address them. We agree that guests deserve a quiet stay on the beach, and we intend to provide it.

I’ve been coming here since 1980 and continued the tradition with my own children. What used to be a quiet relaxing environment has been over run with large groups that have ZERO consideration for others. At night they blast their music, drunk parents yelling & carrying on so loudly it could be heard from other rooms, small children and young teens unsupervised (particularly at the pool),leaving their beach stuff strewn all over (including trash and food). Supposedly, these behaviors are prohibited and strictly enforced but I assure you it is not. Security cameras are attached to building but I highly doubt anyone is paying attention to it. LBK has never been a party beach and I’m not sure why the past 4-5 years this has been such an issue at the Seahorse.
In addition to the unruly group, the Seahorse is in need of some serious repair: visible rusting and decay of some roof areas, lack of cleaning in rooms, lack of daily housekeeping, overflowing trash bins so there’s no way of taking out the trash etc. there used to be someone who cleaned the grills daily- now people just dump out the coals on the ground. I’m actually shocked & saddened at what the Seahorse has become and we don’t mind it being an old girl and outdated. We’d just like to see it back to her original peaceful charm that we grew to love over the decades.

Sorry for the delay in responding. We are putting in place a number of initiatives to address the situations that you've described. We're restructuring our team to ensure more focus is placed on guests and the property rather than administration. We're reviewing additional options for enforcing policies -- especially quiet hours. And we have a number of capital improvement projects in planning or underway. Thank you for your feedback. We are addressing the concerns you raised.

Awful - room 232

We have gone here for years. It’s been a solid family destination until now. The last few years have seen the property decline significantly. The entire building AC didn’t work. Management promised each day that it was the day that the company was coming with the part to fix it. It never happened. We had a leak in the ceiling of our bathroom that revealed nastiness behind the ceiling tiles. Kitchen Sink didn’t drain properly. One of the 2 beds was ok. The other was so bad that it bent like a hammock when I laid down. Awful. Avoid. Some problems are specific to this room but it’s just becoming a trend in what was once a nice, simple place. Avoid

Last year, our Visitor had an unusual and unfortunate experience in Unit 232, as there was a general problem at the Sea Horse at that time with the roof top air conditioning. The air conditioning system at the hotel had just broken down, and management was in the process of understanding how to fix it. Management determined ASAP that it needed to be replaced, soon after Orlando left. Before the whole system could be replaced, the problem was remedied by installing individual airco units in every apartment. I am sure the kitchen sink was remedied as soon as the staff was informed of the problem, but this may have been the result of something a previous guest did, as we have never had this happen before in 232. The bathroom ceiling and the unfortunate state of the mechanism in the ceiling was caused by the air conditioning malfunction, and the ceiling tiles were replaced as soon as possible after the traveler left. The bed frame which caused the sagging in the one bed, was also replaced immediately after we understood there was a problem with it. We work very seriously to maintain our unit, and the Sea Horse staff does everything possible to make guests have a very satisfying and wonderful experience. We hope to see Orlando back, and would love to have them stay again in our Unit 232!

Probably will not come back

This is my honest review of resort. Unfortunately we stayed in unit 251 which was miserable. Dear unit 251 owner you are very cheap . Bed is uncomfortable, everything very dated. Pullout sofa in living room was a disaster, impossible to sleep on. I wish owner of this unit will come down and try it on. Cooking utensils cheapest. Also cleaning is jusy average, not enough sufficient for covid 19. Resort is not enforce any rules. Strange people coming to the beach and using resort beach chairs. Also I haven't seen any security cameras. They allow to smoke weeds on a balconies, yes some visitors doing that, so not appropriate place to go with kids.

We always come back here

We love getting a Studio Rm and feel right at home. You can't get closer to the gulf than this. Each room is different so choose the one you like and enjoy your vacation. You can choose the second floor Balcony rooms or 1st floor patio rooms where you literally walk out onto the sand. We have only had 1 complaint having to do with the water pressure in the shower. I have no idea if all the rooms have the same issue, but we make due, hoping one day it will improve. The shelling and sunsets are fantastic!

Awesome Relaxing Beach Vacation

We have stayed at the Seahorse Beach Resort 2-3 times per year for the last 15 years. Always relaxing, right on the beach, and beach chairs are provided. We plan an annual vacation with our extended family and everyone looks forward to it all year long! Especially the kids. The staff is friendly and helpful. We have stayed in several rooms and have not been disappointed by any of them. Love the Seahorse and Longboat Key. Also great restaurants in the area!
