  1. This looks gorgeous! My boyfriend is currently working out in Perth, so I’ll ask him to bring some back with him if customs allow it?

Does anyone know if there’s something similar to Tim Tams in the UK though? What do they taste like?

    xo

    • Hi Amber-Rose, I’m from New Zealand (and we have Tim Tams here too) and I lived in the UK for 2 years, also am married to a Brit! I think the UK’s Penguin buscuits are a slightly more basic form of Tim Tams but I’m guessing they may work out ok in this recipe too 🙂 Otherwise, depending on where you live in the UK, you may be able to find a NZ / Australian shop – I know there are a couple in London (Ground floor near New Zealand House has one) and they may stock Tim Tams 🙂 Good luck!

      • Would you believe it that Tim Tams are actually based on the Penguin biscuit from the UK. The penguin biscuit came first!

    • Amber-Rose Thomas..they are just pure goodness add them with a coffee or a drop of port and you are walking to the gates of heaven..lol..xD

  2. Sounds delicious! I’ll have to see if I can track sown some Tim Tams here in the US!

    • They sell them in Target … Pepperidge Farm makes them!

  3. That looks amazing!! Tim Tams are a staple so it’s kind of like bread & butter pudding for Aussies, no? 🙂

    • Yes!

  4. I love it when we get Tim Tams! This must be realllyyyyy good!

  5. I’m so thankful that I can get Tim Tams in Dubai now! I’m so going to make this! Yummo! x

  6. This looks so yummy! Pepperidge Farm sells TimTam “Australia’s Favorite Cookie!” (it says so on the label) in the US … I get them at a store calledTarget!

  7. I will definitely be giving this one a go, thanks for sharing! I’m just wondering though whether it’s suitable to make the day before?

    • Definitely. x

  8. Chantelle, please help! I have the Tim Tam pie in the oven now, and it’s due to come out but it’s still runny, does it set more in the fridge? Have guests coming for dinner tonight and have boasted about making this amazing dessert

    • Yes, it sets more in the fridge. It should have a little ‘squidgy-ness’ and then it’ll set once you’ve let it cool and put it in the fridge.

If you look at the pictures that I took of the mini tarts (link in the post) you’ll see those were runnier, as I didn’t put them in the fridge. x

    • How did you go?

  9. I live in Texas and we have Tim Tams at Target! My husband and I did the “Tim Tam Slam” on New Year’s Eve this year. 🙂 Also, when I looked at the package and it said “Australia’s Favorite Cookie,” my first thought was, “I wonder if Chantelle : Fat Mum Slim likes them?”

Hope you’re okay with being the entire continent to me.

    • Oh totally! 😛 That is so cute. x

  10. omfg wut.

  11. I so want this. I’m staying good. I’m staying good. Funny story about Tim tams. I use to send them in care packages when my boy was overseas. I thought I was the best wife ever. Wasn’t till years later he told me he didn’t get one of the packets I sent him. Someone should have reminded me of the 50 degree heat where he was. Oops. Oh well my heart was in the right place. And a melted Tim ram is still a Tim tam. Lol.

  12. When you say thin cream, what is that exactly? I’m looking for the not-so-bright-American translation.

    • Pouring cream. Or any cream works honestly.

      • Thanks! My sister loves Tim Tams from her exchange student days (well, we all do now) so I’m excited to surprise her with this tart!

  13. Making this now for a work morning tea tomorrow. Oh boy is my 17 year old son jealous!

  14. YUM! Thanks for sharing the recipe. I’ll definitely be whipping this one up!

  15. yum! looks so easy!

  16. Made the tim tam tart today. Taste sooo good, but it’s still quite runny even after a few hours in the fridge. Should I be using baking chocolate? I used milk chocolate ( not baking ones).

    • The chocolate shouldn’t make any difference. I can’t figure out why this is happening. Maybe try thickened cream?
